
Alan Aston received the MESAB Trainee of 2010 Award.
Alan is studying for the Certificate IV in Competitive Manufacturing. His employer is Veyance Belting, a company that has signed the Victorian Skills Pledge. His training is provided by New Futures Vocational Consulting Pty. Ltd.
Alan joined Veyance Belting in 2001 as a shop floor operator (associate) and over the next 4 years achieved 3 internal level qualifications on the machines in the Belting Plant. During this time Alan Aston
he has travelled around Australia and South East Asia on behalf of the company.
Not letting the grass grow under his feet, Alan has been busy developing his skills by completing his Certificate III in Process Manufacturing and a Traineeship in Certificate IV in Competitive Manufacturing.
While he has been offered promotions during his off-shore work, he has chose to further his career at Veyance Belting. He was promoted to shift supervisor two years ago during which time he developed a passion for training. As a member of work teams on the shop floor Alan has learned the value of team work and effective communication.
He hopes to complete his Certificate IV in Training and Assessment which will enable him to conduct accredited training.
Alan has served as a committee member on the company’s Social Club and is currently on the plant’s Safety Committee.

Completed a Level 2 First Aid course
Member of a Trail Bike Club
Plays soccer for the local club and assists with the junior teams at the local level
